Stand Up For Littles Announcement

Today, my father would have turned 79. And while there’s not a day that goes by that I don’t think of him, I know he’d be proud of what I have set out to accomplish later this summer for Big Brothers Big Sisters.

In many ways, announcing my intent to make a 14+ mile open ocean paddle for BBBS on his birthday is fitting because he was more than a father – he was the most important role model I’ve had in my life.

As part of their “Do Something Big” initiative, I’m honored to dedicate this trip to Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Greater Seacoast – an organization that personifies the word “Mentor.”

Since I decided to put my words into action about a month ago, I’ve been overwhelmed by the support of my friends and family. In particular, I’d like to thank my wife Diane for her continued patience and support, my entire family, and my friends who have spent countless hours helping me plan, document and train for the Stand Up for Littles paddle.

Every time I look out to the Shoals, I’m reminded of how fortunate I am to have so many great people in my life that support me.

At the end of the day, I hope this small act will have a BIG impact and prove that there is nothing we can’t do with a little drive and a lot of help from our friends.

Thanks for taking the time to read this post. And happy birthday, Dad!
