Pirate's Cove Paddles
Sunday Morning Ocean Paddles.
Every Sunday, from June through August, SPC members gather at Pirate’s Cove Beach in Rye to conquer the open ocean. These paddles are ideal for intermediate to advanced paddlers who are looking to get out on the open ocean and log some miles.
Paddle distances and routes may vary from week to week, but average outings typically range between 5 to 8 miles, and last between 3 to 5 hours.
These weekly meetups are FREE for members and often serve as great training paddles for events like the IOS Invitational, or the Conquer the Seacoast.
Sunday ocean paddles with SPC gave me the skills and knowledge to become a much more confident paddler.
What You Need to Know
Logistics
All paddlers should plan to park on Route 1A and arrive at the entrance to Pirates Cove Beach by no later than 8:30 am so that everyone can be on water, and ready to paddle by 9:00 am.
Safety
All participants must have proper safety gear, including a personal floatation device (PFD), and a leash. Paddlers are also encouraged to bring a hydration pack, snacks, and sunscreen.
Weather
All event cancellations are announced on our Facebook page and via email notification. Please make sure you sign up for our Paddle Alerts if to be notified of upcoming events.

When was the Seacoast Paddleboard Club established?
Seacoast Paddleboard Club was established in 2015. The group was originally created as a training program for our annual charity paddle to the Isles of Shoals but soon evolved into a social club.
Is SPC a non-profit organization?
No. Seacoast Paddleboard Club is a Limited Liability Company. However, we work closely with various non-profit organizations from the greater Seacoast area.
Does SPC have a retail or office address?
No, we do not operate a traditional brick-and-mortar space so if you need to reach us, please use our Contact Page.
How many members does SPC have?
Every year, membership to the Seacoast Paddleboard Club fluctuates between 100 to 150 members.
Do you offer paddleboard classes or lessons?
We do not technically offer classes or lessons, but on any giving paddle, you’ll find experienced members happy to offer tips to improve your paddling.
Why should I join SPC?
In addition to meeting other like-minded folks to paddle with, members are eligible to participate in a variety of organized paddles, receive discounts through our Paddle Perks program (™), and attend various social meetups throughout the year.
How much does a membership cost?
Annual membership to SPC is just $50.00. We do our best to keep this price low so everyone can join the club.
Do you offer any membership discounts?
No. Currently, we do not offer membership discounts as we feel the price is more than reasonable.
When do I have to renew my membership?
An SPC membership is valid for a fiscal calendar year. All memberships must be renewed after the first of the year.
What safety equipment is required for an SPC paddle?
We require all members to use proper safety equipment, including a PFD, leash, and whistle. On evening paddles, we require a white light that boaters can see.
When do you cancel paddle events?
As a rule, we reserve the right to cancel any paddle for whatever reason. However, paddles are usually canceled due to unfavorable weather conditions. If there is any chance of thunderstorms or sustained winds that exceed 15 mph in the forecast, we will cancel that paddle.
How will I know if you cancel a paddle event?
All cancellations are posted on our Facebook page and on our event calendar. If you registered for a paddle, you will also notified via email if you are signed up for our Paddle Alerts.
Why do I need to attend a safety meeting before each paddle?
The safety of our paddlers is our biggest priority. On any given paddle, individuals of different skill levels join us. Our required safety meetings allow us to review specific safety information, discuss our paddle plan, and take a head count so we know exactly how many paddlers are on the water.
When does SPC host their beach cleanups?
Seacoast Paddleboard Beach Cleanups are hosted on the last Sunday of every month, year-round. Unless otherwise advertised, our cleanups are hosted at Pirates Cove Beach in Rye, NH.
Do I need to be a club member to participate in a beach cleanup?
No. Our monthly beach cleanups are open to the public.
What do I need to bring to your beach cleanup?
While we provide either a bag or bucket to collect the trash, we’d encourage you to bring your own gloves (preferably work gloves or garden gloves) and a trash picker if you own one.
Can my business sponsor one of your Beach Cleanups?
Absolutely! We offer an exclusive monthly sponsorship to businesses that wish to sponsor a cleanup. Please contact us for more information.
Can I bring my kids to a beach cleanup?
Yes. Beach cleanups are a family affair, so children under 18 are welcome. You will just need to sign a participation waiver.
What do you do with the trash collected during a beach cleanup?
Our beach cleanups are conducted in partnership with Blue Ocean Society, so we weigh, record, and report everything we collect to them. The trash is properly disposed of after we remove it from the beach.
